This place is great for any occasion. I usually come here with my other mother and my daughter. I have, on the many times I have been here, never been disappointed. The food is delicious on a consistent basis, whether I am ordering sushi, cooked foods, salad, (avcado salad my personal favorite) pad Thai, their soups, everything is tasty. I never feel rushed either. The staff has always been kind and attentive. A great find.

A great place to eat. We have used it when they are busy and also when they aren't, the service is the same, very good. A friendly atmosphere and good food, I recommend it to anyone.

I came here on a double date spontaneously. right off the bat the service was quick! we were seated immediately, it's fairly large inside I'm so glad there was no wait. My waiter was kind of weird, he kept saying weird things to be humorous but ended up freaking us out which is why I'm going to take off a star. I didn't come there to be weirded out, I just wanted chicken and good service! I ordered a spicy tuna roll, dim sum, and chicken sesame. All excellent! It was so tasty, this is my new favorite spot for Japanese food. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant!

Spare ribs are the best of anywhere. So yummy! I also like the Bok Choy. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant-- clean, casual, fine. Not typical Chinese. Nicer. Take-out good too.

My favorite date spot. The ambience is great, the food is excellent, the service is impeccable, you can dress casual or dressy depending if you go for lunch or dinner. They offer take out and have amazing drinks! Must try their martinis, one martini is all you need. The parking situation is ideal you can get valet or just park for yourself and it's located centrally so if you go for lunch it's a great neighborhood to show after.

A great spot for a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. When you move past the bar the place opens up to a big room with a skylight. I typically get the plain sushi rolls or sesame chicken. Their rolls have very little rice, which is great! From my experience the food is better when you eat in vs. a take out. Overall I feel like you get nice quality food for the price.

At 6pm, on a Sunday night, in such a roomy restaurant, my friend and I entered a nearly vacant Wild Ginger. We were seated by a waitress immediately adjacent to an elderly couple. Awk. "What about that other-" nope, she was adamant we sit at the one she pointed out.. The food was okay - pretty good actually (flavorful & well-cooked). We ordered the Garlic Shrimp and a Beef dish, which came with a small scoop of rice on the side. But what we ate amounted to $40. kinda pricey, no? They were medium sized plates of food. Service wasn't the friendliest (aka they were pretty cold). They don't speak English well either. Looking around, I think my friend and I were the only Asian customers in the entire restaurant (even with more ppl who had rolled on in). There are no chopsticks provided. and when we asked for hot tea, we were served hot water in glass cups normally used for milkshakes err... The place is a tad odd...

I have to say that the food is pretty good but the prices are a little steep and the service was pretty lowsy. This was my first and probably last time eating here.

Great for any occasion. I come here for birthdays, causal weekdays, weekend date nights with the wife, you name it. You can take your time here and never feel rushed and relax, or if you want to be in and out quickly, you could do that too. Want sushi? Awesome sushi (especially spicy crunchy roll). Want duck? Get any number of dishes, all great. Want thai? Chicken pad thai to die for. Service varies. Some servers are great and make it such a pleasant experience. Some servers are... cold. The one gentleman with the pony tail (forgot his name) is THE best server. Nice and efficient. Prices are reasonable for the area. Parking lot is mayhem however, but nothing the restaurant can do about it.

Decent quality and size of food. A bit tacky American Thai food, but enjoyable. Ok service... seemed short-staffed. Clean toilet.

I recommend the dimsum sampler to share as an appetizer and the mild mango chicken for an entree. The mango adds a perfect sweet touch to the mildly hot chicken.

Came here on a Sunday night for dinner and really didn't expect too much. Looked like your typical non-traditional asian fare in Great Neck. But the "Fire Wok" entree surprised me and was pretty good. If you like curry and seafood, it consists of lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, scallops and veggies in a curry gravy. It is served in clay pot. It was very tasty and the curry was like a gravy and not watery.

  • Tessie B.

Its funny....every time we go out to eat we are always sat in the back or next to a bathroom or kitchen. This time same thing...right in front of the kitchen....but totally a great experience. Kitchen was a wide open stadium of watching the chefs cook. Kitchen was clean and fast. Food was top notch as always.

Amazing food, good customer service. Always come here for a good dinner. Highly recommend this place on the weekend, or on a special occasion. Prices are rather high, but what do you expect. It's in he middle of a very expensive town. But it's still very reasonable.

I ordered from here yesterday. The food was ok the only reason why I'm giving 3 stars is that I used grub hub and they came quickly. This rating is purely from the convenience and speed it came not from quality of food.

I only review restaurants I REALLY love... and Wild Ginger in Great Neck is one of them. I could eat their FIRE WOK entree everyday of the week. Superb lobster, shrimp, scallops, etc. And the waitstaff treats me like family. But they should. I'm a regular there.

Overall nice place. Not all their dishes are great so u have to know what to order as some dishes are pretty bland. I've tried and can recommend their sambal sambal, fire wok, beef fried rice, shrimp tempura, coconut shrimp, snapper, sea bass are all very good. Shrimps are always jumbo and they use a variety of vegetables in all dishes so it's great. Once we ordered a shrimp fried rice and there was more shrimp than rice it seemed lol they are very generous in their meat and seafood portions if you go when it's not busy during late afternoons. I've been going to them for over 10 years and Service is always pleasant and prompt. Atmosphere is great and the place has a small atrium so it's quite nice.

The dirtiest kitchen workers I have ever seen. They smoke outside the back of the restaurant and was appalled at how they lacked basic cleanness appearance for kitchen staff. Also how filthy the workers are to dump all the cigarette buts all over the community behind the store street and across the sidewalk at the Chase Bank parking lot. My wife said look how dirty there appearance I will never eat there. You really need to see the kitchens staff appearance to only make your own conclusion. Thanks Asian American

I went to Wild Ginger with family over the weekend and had a wonderful experience. We all shared various appetizers which were delicious, and I had the crispy duck entrée which was outstanding! Definitely worthy of a 5-star rating.

Really nice Asian fusion food. Great ambiance and well located with free parking. Pad Thais are a nice appetizer to share. Crispy red snapper with bak choy is their best dish. Thai curry casserole is also nice. Skip dessert here. The bar is also a nice place to sit and wait for someone, if not a bit small.

Nice swanky place for nice mixed drinks and a good meal. It can get really crowded though and prices are a bit high. You can get a better deal in a less fancy looking place if you go into little neck or bayside.

Got the feeling that something is missing - just wasn't flavorful enough. (Rating 3.5/5) Vietnamese Summer Roll appetizer: 6 Huge vegetarian rolls. The sauce that comes with it makes this dish perfect. (Rating: 4.5/5) Miso soup: good (Rating: 4.5/5) Hot & Sour soup: not getting this one ever again. Rating (1/5)

I believe that this restaurant is very good, but very overpriced. This restaurant is located in the busy Waldbaum's shopping center, where other restaurants like Cheeburger Cheeburger, Chipotle, and Matsuya reside. I have never tried this place and decided to give it a go after hearing about all of the rave and the coupons. This place has many people during the lunch hours. This restaurant was packed with people of all ages, from baby to elder... which is good for business. The decor is actually quite nice, but maybe needs a touch up. I love all of the plants. The menu is somewhat like Elaine's with a broad Asian fusion selection, with a take on Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and VIETNAMESE foods. The wonton soups are alright, quite delicious. My chow fun was quite expensive, but actually had a lot of flavor. Unfortunately, when I order beef chow fun, I expect a lot of beef and noodles. The balance was off, since about half of the dish was vegetables. I didn't order the vegetarian selection. The sushi was overpriced but looked very appetizing. The service was friendly and seemed experienced. I guess I would try this place again....

So I have seriously not been to this place in over 7 years because the last time I went it was terrible. Well, I went there on a date with Coop on Friday and boy was I surprised! He ordered the steamed dumplings and another vegetarian dish for dinner -both where amazing! My miso soup was quite good and I had the seared tuna with soba noodles dish which left me wanting more. I usually don't finish food at restaurants, but we had no leftovers. I would go back again to try some other things.

Pretty dreadful delivery order this evening. "Vietnamese salad" was a tasteless, underdressed jumble of cabbage, jicama, peanuts and those styro-noodles. Pad Thai was almost unrecognizable: dull, flabby and insipid, with rubbery shrimp and no discernible flavor. "Sliced flank steak basil" featured gristly meat, overcooked veg and a few forlorn, limp basil leaves in a bland, muddy, oily sauce. Thai red curry had a cloying coconut flavor, dry chicken, no heat and sodden textures. Really not good -- even by forgiving take-out standards.

This restaurant is overpriced and overrated. I adopt an "expect nothing, experience everything" kind of attitude when it comes to food (and life in general). I was ecstatic to learn about an Asian Fusion restaurant that was a mere ten minute drive away from my home. In a flash, I got up out of my man-cave, warmed up the bat mobile, and left a note at the dining table informing my mother of my whereabouts. Onto the food! When I see curry on the menu, it usually means trouble. Trouble for my intestines. Yolo. I love green curry. I love beef. Sometimes I like beef in my green curry. Today was that kind of day. Unfortunately, I was served some of the blandest tasting curry that has ever had the opportunity to grace a pair of luscious lips like mine. To add insult to injury, the bamboo shoots were undercooked causing a severe hypoglycemic reaction. No bueno. Not in my wildest, hypoglycemic-induced nightmares would I recommend this restaurant to anyone I consider a loved one. To the fine people of Great Neck who consider this restaurant a local gem, ya'll need to get out more.

I was very disappointed. Although the service was good, the food was well below par. The Vietnamese salad and the Pad Thai were bland and flavorless. I won't return.

We have been to Wild Ginger in Great Neck several times. The restaurant is very spacious and is good for large group of people like ours. The food is good and the decor is decent too. Only thing, this place is a little over priced. But for a large group like ours, when the service and food is good, it is a good place for a nice dinner/lunch. We have been here a few times and the never have left overs, needless to say, this place has our recommendation.

I've been here twice and the first experience was okay other than the confusion with credit cards (mentioned below). The second experience was horrible. I ordered the exact same dish both times, but the second time it was completely soaked in oil. I could see half a centimeter of oil on top of the sauce my vegetables were soaked in. Not only that, but I decided to order a diet coke as well. I had two glasses. They charge you $2.50 per glass, so no free refills. I have never been to a restaurant that does that. If you want to charge per glass, you should just serve it from a can. Fountain drinks cost 5cents per glass! Or if you want to charge for refills, don't charge another $2.50. They can even charge $1 or $0.50, but not 2.50!!! This was enough for me to never want to go back. The service was horrible as well. I had to ask two times for Sriracha sauce and I had to wave down a guy to get another drink. They weren't busy at all, as they were all standing around. They definitely do not come by to ask if you have everything you need. The first time I came, my coworker and I both paid with credit card and I had specifically told him that my card is "this one." He didn't listen and ended up charging my coworker's dish on my card and vice versa because my coworker has a female name. So the waiter looked at the first card, saw a woman's name, and assumed it was mine. If he had looked at both cards, he would notice that we both have female names. But if he paid any attention to the last names, he would notice that one is Asian and the other is not.

I have to preface this by saying I'm not a fan of Asian fusion restaurants. IMHO, the more cuisines involved, the more mediocre the result. My wife and kids are very fond of this type of restaurant, so I have visited a lot of them. We went to the Bronxville version of Wild Ginger a few times pre-Yelp. Even my family got tired of the food there. We went last night with a mixed group of relatives, in an attempt to please everyone. The room is nice enough. The seating is very tight- there's no reason for this outside of Manhattan. The service was OK. Appetizers included sesame noodles that were too sweet and very fatty, very sweet spare ribs. The main courses varied between blah and OK. The sushi was OK, and better than I remembered it. The spicy tuna and salmon rolls both looked and tasted the same- they could just as well have been spicy catfish rolls. The other sushi rolls were good. The various wok-based dishes were so-so, very oily and over-seasoned. We all wound up drinking like fish when we got home. If you want Chinese food, go to a Chinese restaurant. If you want sushi, go to a Japanese restaurant. When you try to please everybody, you wind up pleasing nobody.

The vegan hot and sour soup was totally delicious as was the Thai red curry (scallops). Portions were large. Excellent value. Setting was above average. Looking forward to another opportunity to eat here.

I always heard mixed reviews about this place. My boyfriend and I decided to give it a shot a few weeks ago. I had the Peppercorn Shrimp & Steak and the food was just --eh, okay. We've had better food at better prices. However, I went back with my friend shortly after for drinks and lunch. I ordered a side of shrimp fried rice with dipping sauce, and the food was much better!

My secret santa gave me a gift certificate to wild ginger, I was kind of hesistant to go because of the crappy reviews. Overall the food was meh, service was attentive. My boyfriend and I came during lunch time and the lunch menu is very reasonable, dinner not so much. We started off with a spicy tuna roll...tasted like supermarket sushi, the rice was really hard and the fish did not taste fresh. Pass on the sushi. I ordered a hot and sour soup which was pretty good, but extremely salty and oily. Also ordered the thai coconut curry chicken, came with brown and white rice. Big portion for 10 bucks. Once again, it was soooooo salty, kinda hard to enjoy to the food when your chugging water every two minutes. Boyfriend ordered the grilled sesame crusted salmon. He liked it but also said it was way too salty. I think I'll give this place one more shot.

i'm always disappointed each time i go, the food is usually ok although the eggplant with garlic sauce has tasted chalky. when dining in i like the lettace wraps and shrimp pad thai noodles. i ordered take out directly on their "NEW ORDER ONLINE" advertisement and it was a disaster. i placed the order at 12:43 the expected delivery time was 1:30 indicated on the order. and i called at 1:55 to see where it was, they told me the "just got my order" and it would be 40 minutes, they offered no apology or discount or anything for the annoyance or mishap. i was diappointed and it was a complete inconvenience. i will NOT be using their online ordering service again.

I've been to Wild Ginger a few times now and normally happy with what they serve me. The one solid suggestion I can make is their spring rolls! I get them every time and they've never failed me. They're spare ribs are also great, not greasy and yummy. Last time i got the honey teriyaki shrimp and chicken and I was slightly disappointed when there was too much breading and the shrimp was fishy. The California roll however, although it was sloppily put together was deliscious.

Came here for a double date. This place is very fancy (palm trees, dim lights), so the pricey menu was expected. It is an open kitchen and service was friendly. I ordered the broad rice noodles with shrimp for around $13 including tax and tip. It came in a mini wok like bowl that kept sliding around as I ate. It tasted good, but nothing special! I was just very disappointed they didn't have Thai iced tea... The restroom was gorgeous haha.

When I first moved out here all I heard was - you have to try Wild Ginger. The first time I went, the food was good and the service was just ok. I've gone back a few times since though and it's been much better so I'd recommend this place if you haven't tried it.

Nestled in the heart of a shopping plaza, Wild Ginger is a surprisingly great find. Normally, I wrinkle my brow at the thought of Asian Fusion, but Wild Ginger gets it done right. Dishes are bursting with flavor, perfectly salted, and served in generous portions. Affordable lunch options ranging from $9-12 won't leave your wallet empty. Rice is available in either white or brown, for those that cry foul for the processed kind. My absolute favorite lunch entree is the "Mango Sauce Special" with tofu and brown rice. Tofu is crispy and served with freshly sliced mangos and jicama, all covered with a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. Also, word on the street from all my coworkers, is that's the best special on the entire menu! Decor is beautiful, interior is brightly lit and sunny, service is great... there's no reason not to come here!

Awful, could not finish the meal. Surprisingly the chef had the nerve to come up to us and demand an explanation for us not liking his food. He asked we wanted something else instead. I just asked for an appetizer. They then had the nerve to charge us for it. When all is said and done I hope their restaurant doesn't catch on fire.

First off, I fell in love with Wild Ginger a few years back but I'm just now writing about it. I know.... it took me long enough! I will first start off with the friendly staff who always greet me when I come in. I have sat at the bar and in the dining area and I have always received great service. The cocktails are so good. The bartender knows how to make a superb drink. I think the best ever! I usually order the chilean sea bass, singapore noodles or the yummy sushi rolls, which are always excellent. The food here is always fresh and very flavorful. I also order take out too if I haven't had enough of their food especially since the prices are just right. It's definitely worth a trip over here!

This is one of our most favorite restaurants for asian food! The food, and the decor, are just incredible! We had the hot and sour soup (perhaps the best we ever had) and the miso (very good also!). Next were the dumplings and California roll...Yummy! Then, the thai curry in the red sauce, wow! Delish! And the crispy shrimp with walnuts in a lemon creme sauce! OMG! We've been here multiple times and plan to go many more. Service was always good to us. And in those four times, the food has been incredible all four times! It's a must attend!

It's an American style Chinese and Thai fusion restaurant. I had two kinds of dumplings, the dim sum sampler, sea bass, crisp chicken and shrimp with honey walnuts etc. It was all good but it didn't make me feel fantastic. If you will around here, it would be good to try it once to make your experiences. if you want to read the Korean review, click here blog.naver.com/yesican1/…

Best Thai Food I've had since returning from the west coast. Decently priced, service was nice and a simple menu. I ordered the Beef Satay (yummy) and Pad Thai (also yummy). My college friend ordered the spicy tuna roll (yay for crunchies!) and the shrimp chow mein (not my thing, but tasty anyway). -1 for no coconut rice.

Sluggish service. Ack. And that creepy guy with the French textbook just nabbed my fork without asking! Ack. A fancy presentation that attracts so many patrons that it degrades the whole establishment's overall service. Ack. A party of nine people, with the majority of them being "young," ordered Lo Mein noodles, vegetables, chicken, and tofu (YAY FOR TOFU) with that 'magical' spice of their wild ginger (A blend of ingredients I presume; not just a wild ginger). Of course, the tofu was SUPERB. It was complimented with a spice that really brought out my enjoyment and even it's vegetables were pleasurable. I decided to steal a fellow diner's noodles when they weren't looking. They were good as well, but honestly, they are only a tad bit above a regular Chinese food joint's lo mein noodles. In other words, everything but the tofu was a-little-bit-above-average. What this restaurant tries to do is it consumes people's cash by pulling them in with a beautiful looking restaurant. Then it tricks them into thinking that all their dishes are extraordinary when really, all they have done is that they have made improvements on the Chinese fast food that we have eaten thousands of times before. The service was slow ... possibly due to the high volume of people and noise in the dining room. I had to yell "garconne" to receive only little-to-no attention from the passing waiters who glanced at me with apathetic emotions. The water was watery. The pricing was of an illusionist's ingenious mind.

For the most part I really like wild ginger. Ive tried the duck and the chicken and the thing that comes in a bird's nest looking thingamajig and dont remember having issue with any of them. What stands out to me in memory is the seared tuna and soba dish which is fantabulistic. it is very light and it is very tasty a great combination if i do say so myself. Some of the appetizers are meh as they seem like an afterthough and a ripoff of chinese dimsum but whatever. +1 for the giant glass partition with water flowing over it. Stuff like that always amaze me and force me to touch it to make sure its real. Def worth trying!

We stopped for drinks before dinner. Great service and friendly staff. I like the ambiance. We will eat at Elaine's for dinner tonight instead of here because of the reviews, but having viewed this location first hand, I don't know if the reviews are accurate.

a favorite of my sister's, I first found out abouth this place coming for lunch for her college graduation. Food is decent, decor is really nice, but service is pretty average (better at the bar) and prices are a little steep (Welcome to Great Neck). I will say that portions are definitely ample though. My staple has been the seared peppered tuna. Get it as an appetizer, since the amount of tuna you get is about the same as the dinner plate, and is served on a bed of dressed salad as opposed to a tower of soba noodles. Doesn't hurt that its half the price too. Vietnamese Summer Rolls are delicious pre cursor to an otherwise oversized meal.

This Asian Fusion restaurant has been in Great Neck for over 7 years and the food is always consistently delicious! Friendly upbeat atmosphere with very quick service from ordering to eating. Prices are extremely fair with the quality and quantity of food. Try it, you''ll like it!

In my opinion there really is only one Wild Ginger and it's located far, far away from NY on the left coast. I still vividly remember stumbling upon the real Wild Ginger on a rainy Sunday night near Seattle's Pike Place Market. Having just moved to the Emerald City, I didn't know of a single restaurant, but somehow my mom and I stumbled into the best joint in town. Quite simply it was one of the best meals I've ever had. As we feasted on such delicacies at Black Pepper Scallops, Monk's Curry and Seven Flavored Beef, not to mention chicken and shrimp skewers from the satay bar (a freakin Satay BAR!?!) I felt as though we had just discovered the ruined temples of Ankhor Wat. Seattle's Wild Ginger -- which sadly lost some of its luster after it relocated to its roomier, more mainstream and less sexy digs on 3rd Avenue near Benaroya Hall -- was the precursor to pan-Asian restaurants like Slanted Door in San Fran and Spice Market in NYC. Which is to say that when I hear other restaurants daring to use the Wild Ginger name, I'm always skeptical. Sort of like if you moved to Seattle and somebody opened a Cafe Habana. It just wouldn't be the same. Even so, the Wild Ginger in Great Neck is actually pretty good. The decor is warm and inviting, with wicker chairs, palms and a Shanghai-style bar in back, and almost enough to make you forget you're in a strip mall across the LIRR train station. The food, while not outstanding by any stretch of the imagination, is also above average. Some dishes I've tried that I recommend: grilled chicken salad (one of my GoTo lunches), sliced flank steak basil, sambal delight, eggplant with garlic sauce, tamarind chicken, and the crispy thai spring rolls. I will admit that I still get wispy thinking about Wild Ginger in Seattle and all the wonderful meals I had there. I still have dreams about dishes like Lamb Bumbu from Indonesia, Wok Fried BBQ Prawns and Wild Ginger Fragrant Duck. Is the Long Island version worthy enough to assume the Wild Ginger name? Well there is only one WG in my mind, but Great Neck is lucky to have its own.

This is my main place to eat. The sesame crusted salmon, grilled shrimp with lemongrass, the szechuan shrimp and chicken and the shrimp and chicken with walnuts dishes are to die for!!! I eat healthier here than anwhere else. The dim sum is also the appetizer my husband and I always choose. Every time I go out with a friend to eat or my husband we mostly come here. Great service, great food, yes pricy but worth every penny. There is also one in manhattan but the menu is more extensive in great neck.

Good noodles, good service. Dumplings, pad Thai, miso soup all fresh and tasty. Presentation was lovely. Not the most exotic of menus, but everything we had was well made. Room was cheerful and comfortable. Open on Christmas. If you're in the neighborhood, worth a visit.

Great appetizers, vietnamese salad was great. Entrees were mediocre at best. Pan seared salmon was bland and there were whole pieces of rock salt in the duck fajitas. Overall go for appetizers only.

I came here with my mother in February 2011. While the restaurant was pretty much vacant--at least 20 tables in the center of the place were available--the hostess sat us in a cramped corner table right behind the cashier. The arrangement having been nonsensical, I commented to the hostess (I love it when they can't speak "Engrish") that we wanted to be moved. She responded, "We saving seats for reservation in couple hours." Then she made some quip about how it was more important to hope that many people were going to be seated rather than make 2 people comfortable now. When I told her that we'd be done eating in about 30 minutes anyway, she refused to move us. We promptly got up, left the restaurant, and I told the hostess to go F herself. Incidentally, a friend of mine who works for the Department of Health said that if you saw the sodium content for the dishes being served, you'd have an on-the-spot coronary thrombosis.

I have to start off by saying that the food here is just alright but the service I received is alone enough to stop me from ever dining here again. My friend and I came here for dinner after work during restaurant week and ordered from their price fixe menu. The menu allowed for a soup, appetizer, entrée and dessert. To start, I asked the waiter if they had Thai iced tea. To my surprise they didn't have any. This was shocking since this is an Asian fusion restaurant that serves a lot of Thai dishes. I was disappointed but then asked if they had lemonade. Again, they said they didn't have any. I had to settle for plain iced tea. However this was the least of worries. For appetizer I ordered Thai spring rolls as did my friend (the price fix menu allows for each person to order his or her own appetizer).. However, to our surprise we got one spring roll each. I have been to many Asian fusion/Thai restaurants and never had the experience of getting just ONE spring roll as an appetizer. We then had two waiters approach us suddenly to tell us that the appetizer consisted of just one spring roll. Then with both waiters still hovering over us, one said that he wanted to show us how to "separate" them. I was confused by this. I said OK expecting him to do some type of magic trick. He then whips out a pair of chopsticks and then places one spring roll on my plate and the other on my friend's plate. I really didn't see the point in that. I could have done that myself. Maybe he was thinking we couldn't use chopsticks, little does he know I have been using chopsticks all my life despite not being Asian. Later on in the meal I needed a refill but the waiter would never come back to see if everything was fine at our table. However, what annoyed me the most is that the he would constantly visit the table immediately adjacent to us and serve them. Let it be known that the girls at this table arrived after we did and were served before us and had the waiter's full attention. He finally came over when I finally stared him down while he was serving the girls next us. I have a tendency of giving "evil stares." All in all, the food was just alright. I have had better. Even though I live in the area I will go out of my way to Queens for some decent Asian food. I highly recommend Kyoto on Union Turnpike, which is also an Asian Fusion restaurant but they have Thai iced tea and GOOD SERVICE.

I have been to Wild Ginger several times. It is located in the back of a strip mall. I am usually leery on any restaurant in a strip mall. This restaurant had some outdoor seating facing the parking lot. A lot of negative signals going against it. But the food was great especially the sushi and the wok dishes. It has fun atmosphere. For more and a coupon visit my blog at puredavid

I went to Wild Ginger Saturday night at around 6:30 PM. I was quite surprised at how busy it was. We were going to a concert at 8 PM in Westbury. We have been here many times and tend to get fish or seafood. We shared spring rolls, a little greasy. We had seared tuna over soba noodles. The tuna was OK, but it seemed better on previous visits. We also had crispy scallops. On this visit, they were particularly greasy. The greens were raw spinach. I think on previous visits, they used different kinds of greens. We used an expired living social deal. (15 value). The food is a bit pricey. The service was little abrupt this time. It seemed like the waiter did not want to be there. When we asked about a beer choice, he said "NO" without offering any alternatives. We had to ask. In spite of this, I would go back. I prefer going with a coupon, because of the price. On previous visits we have had perfectly cooked grilled shrimp and a lovely calamari salad. On a plus side, the food arrived quickly.

Fusion just means that they serve dishes from all parts of asia. They didn't actually fuse anything. Sometimes that is preferred too. It's mostly Thai and Chinese. The flavors were good but I would not say that this is the most creative asian food I've eaten. It was A-Ok. Decor was cute and colorful. Service was attentative enough but water glasses sometimes got a little low.

We ate here with our two children on a week night. The food was horrible. We ordered panang beef, ginger chicken, pad thai, and an order of spring rolls. The quality of the beef was similar to a cheap Chinese take out place-- mushy, stringy, flavorless. The curry sauce had not depth of flavor-- thin and watery. The sauce on the chicken had not flavor, and the vegetables had an earthy, unwashed taste. The kids liked the pad thai well enough. Even the spring rolls were not great! Considering the price, we were very disappointed and we won't be back. However, the waiter did remove the beef panang from our bill because we didn't eat it, but he was very rude to us when we complained. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

To me, Service is as important as the taste of food or even more important because it is directly related to my dining experiences. If I don't care for the service, there are many take out restarurant who can cook better food that I can choose from. I've taken few friends to Wild Ginger for birthday lunch because it's nearby my work place and its decoration with skylight is comfortable for lunch time. Asian fusion style food taste ok although a little bit oily and on the salty side. However, the service is just not satisfying every time, that is a big minus. Waiters there are not happy. We just had lunch there today and the waiter served us is like day dreaming. First he didn't even care to ask about our soup choice and skip my friend's order like she didn't exist. The Mei Fun(Appertizer) came with a portion only enough for a cat, much less than what we had last time, the worst part is it's tasteless! It is a Singapore Mei Fun we ordered as a lunch portion, we treated it as an appertizer. It suppose to have curry flavor and spicy flavor, but the chef obviouly forgot to even put salt in there. After we brought up to this waiter, he's still acting like he's dreaming, not even showing sympathy, just have no 'response' whatsoever! then our main course came, until we remind him the soup almost at the end...he asked us if we still need the soup... we said yes. the soup came up not hot, taste was ok. After the desert, then the bill came with a 20% service charge for six ppl. It's just terrible service for that 20%! It is a birthday celebration for one of our friend, so I didn't want to argue the fairness of this 20% with such poor service. The main dishes taste ok though, but the service really turns me off. I won't go back again.

Came here with a big group for uncle's birthday. Ordered the broccoli soy ginger. Although I didn't eat anything prior to going, it was very filling. Again the green tea in the glass bottle, with the cutest little cups were amazing and delicious. I ordered the avocado cucumber rolls for the appetizer and the broccoli soy ginger with tofu, it was very tasty, lots of flavor. Yum I'd enjoy going back another day!

I enjoyed my meal at Wild Ginger. They offer a nice selection of asian-fusiony meals and had a pretty holiday decor. I had the lemongrass griled shrimp. The shrimp was tender and the vegetables were al dente, just the way I like! For those who don't like spicy food, the items with hot pepper icons on the menu are EXTREMELY spicy. Mine didn't have one but it was pretty hot. Green chilies were disguised in my food and I thought they were string beans and I hadn't had anything that spicy since I ate a green indian chilie at Tamarind in nyc. And for being in great neck the food was surprisingly cheap.

It wasn't a complete disappointment but I don't think I'll come back here again. The service was eh and the food was eh. I don't think I'm ever happy with Asian fusion food. In my mind it should only be assign. I thought our dishes was too spicy ( granted it was marked spicy ) the spicy took away the real flavor of the dish. Also too salty.

Where can I get a decent panang on the north shore of long island? Why can't I find it? WHY do I live here? Wild ginger is strip-mall thai fusion.... which translates most often to; "we weren't that good at making one cuisine, so why not try 3?!!" Despite it being a thai place mainly, there isn't a single good coconut curry on the menu? But then there's redeeming things like the szechuan dumplings in peanut creme. Dumplings?? in PEANUT CREME?? This could be the appetizer equivalent of heroin. Thankyou thai ginger... I will long for you in the middle of the night and in the middle of completely unrelated conversations. If you happen to be ordering here for delivery, be careful with some of the dishes; many dishes die in a steaming delivery hell. The food here truly is hit or miss, with some dishes being great, and some just being confused and so-so, but great thai food is a hard commodity to come by on the north shore.... thus wild ginger survives.

The decor of the restaurant is very pleasing, but the food is one step above your everyday Chinese American restaurant. I would have given this place a 4 star rating, if it wasn't so pricey. I think the pricing of the food is a bit much for what it is.

So for starters, the decor is perfect. They have a nice up-scaled bar that fits in perfectly with the restaurant. I decided to go with duck for the first time and it was more than amazing! I absolutely loved it! But it took so long to come out... I was starving. And it was a little pricey for the portion but it was definitely worth it. This place gets a thumbs up from me.

wild ginger is a very good restaurant. in fact since ive been living in great neck (over 3 years) i havent found a better one. the quality of food, the price, the service, and the decor are all top notch. i have eaten inside and ordered delivery from them dozens of times, and the food is always good. i generally get either some sushi (which is really very good) or the general tsaos chicken which is excellent...and nice and spicy. the 1 or 2 times we had problems with our delivery order, we called them and it was fixed within minutes. wild ginger isnt the cheapest place...but the prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get. the decor inside is quite nice...interesting artwork and a nice indoor waterfall. they do keep it dark, but its not too dark, just enough to make the wide open dining room seem more intimate. i have been there several times with friends from out of town and everyone ive brought there always loves it and wants to go back. wild ginger has an excellent variety of asian food, all quite tasty and reasonably priced. pair that with the interesting decor and friendly staff and you have a winner.

Nice setting. A very modern decor with good lighting and an open kitchen. Plenty of tables. The food was pretty good. Asian Fusion style - Sushi, Thai, Indonesian, and Chinese. For groups of 4+ make a reservation in advance. We had the duck rolls for appetizers and they were delish. The Sambal Sambal chicken is basically Thai basil chicken and that is very good. Wasn't impressed with the Pad Thai as it was a bit sweet.

Wild Ginger is plagued by the same thing that plagues most Asian fusion restaurants - bad to mediocre food. I'm not sure why this is, but they pick the safest and tamest flavours and recipes. The result is that nothing exceptional ever gets cooked. But this Chinese boy have had much better food.

I came here two or three times a couple of years ago and the food was surprisingly good. I went back recently because my family wanted to have something different for dinner and not the usual restaurant that we always go to for a good meal. The waiter seated us in the corner of the restaurant even though there was no one there. The lighting was very dark, and the booth looked very old and had many stains on it. When I was about to sit down on one of the chairs, I saw an insect that looked a lot like a cockroach run across the side of it. We felt really uncomfortable, so we got up promptly and left, and had dinner elsewhere. Don't know if the food is still good, but the decor and atmosphere surely aren't!

Stumbled upon Wild Ginger when we tried going to Cosi after closing time. It was a good thing because the restuaratn was nice, the prices weren't bad ($23 4-course price-fixe) and the food was good. We'll be going back next time we're in the area.

First off, the decor is beautiful and the lighting is comfortable. The staff here is extremely friendly. Definitely a place I will visit at least once a month. I have been here a couple of times and I always order the Thai Crab-cakes as my appetizer, it is delicious! The menu has a large variety of food but my favorites are the salmon salad and the mango chicken. They have a great sushi menu and is pretty inexpensive as well. Specialty drinks are very creative, A+ to the Shanghai Mai-tai. Definitely a great place for a family dinner or a nice place to bring a date. Enjoy!

Nice decor and excellent service. The food was extremely unmemorable: I think I got some kind of peanut chicken, or something along the lines. It was a big portion, but expensive and banal.

As this restaurant is practically across the street from my parents' home, I tend to hit it fairly frequently when I visit Great Neck. The cuisine is Asian Fusion. So far, I have not been disappointed. You should start with the steamed vegetable dumplings. They are lighter than most dumplings and quite tasty. For dinner last time I had "surf and turf", i.e. steak and shrimp. It was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp were of a nice size and were flavorful. The sauce was good without being heavy or cloying. It also came with a nice assortment of vegetables. They offer both white and brown rice with most entrees. My mother had garlic shrimp, which was equally good. With dinner we drank a very nice, and reasonably priced, Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. We finished up dinner with some of their green tea, served in a cup with a small pot; it was quite good and refreshing. As always, the service was quick and efficient without being hurried.

The Thai crab cakes had no "thai" that I could taste, but the vegetable dumplings were very good. I had the snapper entree and it was HUGE (like a double entree) and RICH. Yummy. Service was OK and the place is very large and comfortable for a spot in a shopping center.

I had a very nice meal here, nothing was excellent, but everything was good to very good. Its fusion, which is nice to be able to order just about anything Asian, but its also a bit frustrating to have a menu with 40 or so entrees (including specials) and wondering what is the freshest and best. With that in mind, we had a variety of dishes, some worked more than others. The Pad Thai I found to be kind of bland, it did not have the usual strong flavor I'm used to, although my company enjoyed it. The sushi roll we had was very good, standard; sweet from a sauce, not particularly memorable, but it was quality. The Seafood Ceviche is not very good. Its got mango, which I do not personally like with tuna and salmon as I don't enjoy my fish to be sweet, and the presentation and fish are passable. It was not bad at all, but not worth ordering in my opinion. There was a chicken dish that I found to be not lean chicken, and quite boring. The green vegetable dumplings were excellent, enjoyed by all. The Crispy honey chicken and shrimp was a huge portion and was very good, crispy chicken with a good sauce and green beans. The Soft Shell Crab was decent, tasty by no sauce and a very small portion for a main course, especially at $20. I had a few bites of a salmon dish that was excellent and a very large portion. All in all, the food was decent to good, the service was friendly. The drinks were a highlight, we had a few excellent fun drinks including the Pomegranate Mojito which I enjoyed very much. All in all, I would go back here and try something different, most people really enjoyed the meal.

So what makes this two stars and not one? Well the first time I was there it was probably between 3-4 stars when I ordered the dim sum appetizer sampler and fire wok. It was good, no where near great. So I went back a second time a week later and ordered the sesame chicken. No way any asian fusion place can get that wrong right? I was mistaken! I bit into a piece and ate flour with a taste of chicken, and then another and then another. Now I'm no chef, but I've made fried chicken before and I've never bitten into uncooked flour! Maybe they had a bad night, but I probably won't be going back.

I only give it 2 stars because it used to be good. I have been there many times and ordered out as well. I went there last night. Terrible service and day old food. Not good. I gave them a small tip, and they felt the need to stand close to my table looking at the check in disaproval. You get what you deserve.

I went here tonight with a friend and we both loved it! Although its in a shopping center I wasn't too worried because it was a shopping center in Great Neck. Just from looking at the sign outside you could tell this place was legit. We walk inside the place is very well decorated, clean and very inviting. The service I thought was great and by that I mean they didn't bother us for no reason. We both got drinks, I got a Shanghai Mai Tai and she got a Mango Mojito both very good and a lot of it! For starters I got the baby back ribs and she got the vegetarian dumplings. My ribs were good not great but I've also been spoiled with amazing ribs so its hard for me to judge ribs now. I'm not a huge fan of dumplings to begin with so I will remain indifferent, but she must of loved them cause I had 1 she had the rest. Now for main course we shared the Singapore thin rice noodles and the Red Snapper. Normally we go with the Chilean Sea Bass but tonight we thought we'd try something different and the description of the Snapper was more enticing. When the Snapper arrived it looked soooo good we just dove right in and completely forgot to take a picture of it for you guys. (sorry, next time!) The Snapper sat on a nice bed of baby bok choy (my fav), had a nice crunchy crust (crunchy to the very last bite!) on the outside with the inside having a smooth silky texture, definitely fresh! As for the noodles they were cooked perfectly and tasted as good as noodles can taste! I will definitely be back for sure, I'm excited to try the other entrees. Next time around I will most likely skip the starters so I can leave more room for main/side dishes and dessert which I unfortunately didn't get to try this time around. Overall a solid place!

once a year we eat here and i question myself, what the heck was i thinking. if you want Japanese go to a Japanese restaurant. if you want to eat Chinese, go to a Chinese restaurant. the waitress service was excellent. very quick to seat us, take our order, refill our drinks, offer dessert etc... i was hoping to eat healthy by way of a steamed fish dish with vegetables. no such luck on this menu. all fried fish, no steamed. on a scale of 1-10 1 being awful and 10 being awesome i will rate our dishes chicken dumplings 5 - Edamame 5 - cold and no slat on them honey spare ribs - 6.5 give them a few extra points. note they are greasy and u will need to get up to wash your hands in the bathroom since they do not provide wet wipes to clean your hands or fingers chicken lettuce wrap 4 - extremely greasy - if you want to eat this dish go to Cheesecake Factory. they are kick as there main dishes Naruto roll & Golden Dream - 6 stick to eating sushi at a sushi restaurant Asian grilled chicken salad 6.5 Asian grilled chicken with wild ginger 4 - way tooooooo much salt the other dish, i can't recall but it was awful when the bill came and i saw i was charged for a cup of tea $3.00 i was completely shocked and swore off the place. We passed on dessert and decided that was that pass on the place.

My first time and I ordered the mango chicken which was very good. Giving 4 as I was rushed for lunch and could not try anything else. Place is large and spacious and waiters and usher were professional - we were one of the first though. Recommend this definitely

Mostly we ordered in which explains the pile of chinese fortunes on my desk. If you are lucky enough to be dining in be sure to take time to admire the indoor waterfall. My standbys were the summer rolls and shrimp salad. Food quality is not consistent. You can get better sushi elsewhere.

Been living in Great Neck for 8 years and Wild Ginger was one of my go to restaurants to dine in and order delivery. In the past several months it has gone completely down the tubes. What was once delicious, well-seasoned Asian cuisine has turned into greasy tasteless Chinese takeout. Everything we have ordered has just come laden in a pool of oil. We have tried several times due to a great history w this place. I asked the hostess why the dishes were different and she said they got a new chef. All I know is Wild Ginger is now off my list.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
